okay here’s my theory
this ep is going to be something like 4x05 and 4x09
i mean think about
it’s called “lynchian”
lynchian can be described as “it's like being dropped into the middle of someone else's dream” or “it's eery detachment and a crushing blow” or “ostensible” |1

in 4x05 when betty was dealing with figuring out what the serial killer genes are to her, she had a nightmare about killing caramel
she started looking in her childhood diaries and found out her dad made her do it |2

in her nightmare she wore a light pink tshirt and her diary from when she was the age when caramel died was a blue/ green/turquoise whatever you wanna call it
if we look close, one of the diaries she’s reading in this episode is the same
and not only that |3

we’re getting a flashback to when archie proposed to her when they were kids
BUT
in one of the stills, we also see now betty, not just little betty
and what is she wearing?
seems like the same shirt from her nightmare in 4x05 |4

in 4x09 charles helped her “save” little betty from doing that by “turning back” and changing the fate, right?
so he basically kind of hypnotized her
which leads me to my theory |5

so
the episode starts with betty dreaming about when archie proposed and that’s gonna confuse her especially that she’s gonna wake up next to jug and everything
she’s gonna start going through her diaries just like she did back then |6

in the scene with alice, she’s probably gonna read through her diary when alice comes and they’re gonna have a nice conversation like when she was little
then she’ll look outside the window and see archie
we’re probably getting a parallel (little betty has the same outfit) |7

they’re gonna meet in the bunker to talk and figure out what they are and what they’re doing but they’re probably gonna be interrupted and they’ll have to continue later
betty’s gonna keep searching through her diaries and trying to figure out what she’s feeling |8

in the flashback there seems to be someone else there, probably jug
we know that now jug is gonna investigate on the videotapes and he’s going to some creepy place and probably something happens to him
in the flashback jug’s gonna say smth like “why did you leave when |9

i needed you the most” and then betty gets a phone call about jug being hurt and she has to go |10

here she’s going through albums and pictures
there are two albums there
one from 1977 when their parents were like 8, and one from 2014 when they were about 12/13
but most of the pictures are from highschool
there are scissors on the table so she’ll probably |11

start cutting “memories”
she meets with archie again and we know he’ll sing something to her, probably something she likes when she was little
but she looks kind of sad and angry so it must mean she figured out that whatever they’re doing is not right and it has to stop |12

she probably won’t stop beating herself up for that and she’s gonna ask charles to help her
she’s gonna “turn back” to when archie proposes and is gonna tell him to take care of their friendship and leave it like that. a friendship. |13

then she’ll go home, burn her diaries and tell jughead about everything
he’ll be mad at first but he’ll understand she needed to do this so she can close the door to that story
and then archie’s gonna go to this dad’s grave, probably to ask him for advice or just tell him |14

that he’s going to be fine
then he’ll tell ronnie and she’ll probably be sad at first but then she’ll understand too |15

lynchian is described as “being dropped into the middle of someone else's dream” which would explain betty’s dreams and flashback sequences
“eery detachment” - eery means “strange and frightening” which can be about the fact that both betty and archie are scared to close |16

the door to their childhood feelings
and “stated or appearing to be true, but not necessarily so” which probably is about betty “turning back” or something like that |17

i have a feeling that the episode ends with another videotape with masks but this time one with people with betty masks and archie masks kissing/ pushing people with jughead and veronica masks away or something
another hint that charles could be behind the tapes |18
