Beyond the problems of the modern game, football demonstrates the power of community spirit throughout the 20th Century and is a great example of globalisation. To understand Elizabethan society we turn to the Globe theatre. In 400 years, will historians turn to Wembley?

Football has played a pivotal part in the development of British society over the last 100 years. It brings generations together. Here’s an optional task for KS3 students to explain how and why. I’m hoping this brightens up home learning for some students!

Task 3: What is your favourite kit or game from the 20th century?

One iconic strip before my time (and an icon for all Liverpool fans!). This 1999 Real Madrid strip was my first ever kit other than a Liverpool one!
