1. Nobody is coming to solve your problems, you have to do it yourself.
Growing up in poverty accelerates your maturation process. You take on more responsibilities. When you’re growing up poor, you understand that things don’t just happen, and you have to work hard.

2. Money can definitely buy happiness, when happiness depends on money.

3. You learn to get things done even imperfectly.
Growing up poor you learn, as long as you get it done, doesn’t matter that much how you fix a problem. “Done now is better than perfect never.”

6. The value of being creative.
“Creativity is the art of creating value from less using only your ability to connect dots differently!” Because of circumstances you’re forced to find alternatives, ways around certain roadblocks.

In a very messed up way, growing up poor has a free intuitive. Why? Because you’re already pretty miserable, and at more less rock bottom.

11. Simple things can mean a lot.
It’s easy to lose ourselves in the idea only big things can have an impact. If you’re growing up poor, you find the value in even the smallest acts of kindness.

Growing up poor, you’re part kid, part parent, part supporting member of the family. You do things because someone has to, and everyone else is busy doing their share.

13. If you can’t afford, you don’t need it.
Growing up poor forces you to make certain choices, because you simply can’t afford to get everything you want. It teaches you to make due without the off shovel solution.
Although it’s a very humbling experience.

14. If you don’t do anything about it, you’ll be stuck there.
All you have to do is look at the people around, people of all ages. They all had dreams, plans, they were all on the exact spot you find yourself in. Some are still in that same exact spot, and that scares you.

15. It makes you appreciate how far you have come .
Your kids mayn’t see it. Others mayn’t see it as well, but you know how far you’ve come, and what you had to go through in order to get to this fortunate position you might find yourself in.
