Okay so I have a few thoughts. I am not a Liberal, I do not identify as one. I am a Marxist and I believe that socialism cannot and will not be delivered through parliamentary politics and that a revolution in time when we are ready is the only way to achieve our goals.
Capitalism is violent and is killing our comrades and class solidarity is the Centre to everything I believe. There is no peaceful way to disrupt this process. Pacifism is a lie and is a narrative I feel is peddled into the left wing to subdue us and weaken us.
Coming to terms with this was not easy, and made me rethink everything I thought I knew about myself and my beliefs. The fact that oppressive regimes are imposed on us through capitalism, the patriarchy, institutionalised racism and not direct clear "violence" is a tactic.
It leads us to minimise the brutal actions of the ruling classes above us. Everything they do is for their own benefit, oppress us and kill us. But we see Obama dancing on the Ellen show and think oh theyre just like us, how could they really be bad people.
Don't ever let anyone tell you that's there is no Liberal elite. There is. The western world is subject to some of the most well thought out propaganda to lead us to think we are liberated when that is so far from the truth. It is an insult to the working class and minorities.
We say time and time again capitalism doesn't work. It does. It does exactly as it was intended. It's not for you or me, it doesn't have to work for us. And that's why it must end. And there is no other way forward than socialism.
Every now and then there is a rags to riches success story or example of the "American Dream." This is intentional so we can convince ourselves that there is a way to work to succeed when in reality it is rare, but we can convince ourselves we can make this system work for us.
I Don't really know the point of this thread I just had these thoughts spinning around my head and I wanted to articulate them. I don't trust Liberal Western media - it brings us subject to the propaganda we are all so afraid of from socialist countries.
I find it baffling that people claim to be above propaganda and not see that. It is maybe more subtle, more well planned. I don't like the CIA but you can't deny they do know what they're doing.
That being said I will not blindly believe either side of the argument without employing critical thought. My heart is leading me one way on the DPRK but I know it is rash and driven by the media here that I don't trust anyway.
This is by no means me advocating for supporting the DPRK. This is me holding my hands up and saying I know very little about it. I will not attack or defend it. There is too much call-out and aggressive behaviour online at the minute surrounding it.
I personally feel very under pressure being part of on an organisation which has a very clear line on something that I am not sure about. Its causing me great anxiety thinking people expect me to defend it.
I am taking the time now to learn and educate myself before coming to my final stance on this. I ask people to not unnecessarily jump on this and criticise me for being ignorant on this subject, from either side of the argument.
I of course have anti imperialist outlook, but I don't think that's enough to support something I don't agree with. But equally I am an open minded person and willing to hear the other side. People I respect have views on this that I don't understand but I can ask and learn.
This is very long and rambling and talks about several different things. But the main gist is, I don't understand the pro DPRK stance, but I am willing to learn more about it. I don't feel comfortable commenting on something I am ignorant on.
All I ask is patience while I grow into and shape my politics and for everyone to have reasonable and critical thought towards news stories, theory and eachother.
