Most home shopping deliveries are picked in-store. The demand for home deliveries and "store collect" has gone through the roof.

now starts earlier. The increase in demand is unlikely to be fully met despite maximum staff working maximum hours and the stores need to remain open 8am to 10pm. The task of organising, implementation and staffing has been immense. The Foodpitals and Spambulances are flat out 2/
Simple logistics dictate that output is finite.
Peoples lives have been stood on their heads. Working when others don't, they sometimes receive abuse from people holding them personally responsible for situations they have no control over. Let out of lockdown for this? 3/

I heard a new guy was in tears he'd received so much abuse over (no) bog roll.
We're becoming more like carers for people and for the most part we do care.
There's a thing I've seen in people though like a master slave relationship. Where they have the right to demand of you /4

They think, that you must "take it there" "bring it here" as they command because they have purchased "you" along with the goods.
In my house I wouldn't dream of asking a family member to go to the front door and bring me something to the kitchen unless I wasn't able to. 5

I think there should be a dedicated, government owned service, as part of Social Services for people over 65, and those with mental/physical disabilities, illness or incapacity.
Staff trained appropriately.
I could see it extended to those without transport or on low incomes. 6/

People are working hard doing tedious, repetitive work to keep the nation fed. I would hope that people are now more receptive to the idea of Sunday closing of Supermarkets so that the families of workers are guaranteed at least that 1 day a week to be together as a family. 7/
Going back to Master/slave. Unless your delivery drivers has been covered by an insurance policy to safeguard them when entering your home. They do not "have to" and can legitimately choose not to, despite Supermarket claims that they will "take it to your kitchen and unpack it.8
They do not have to deliver beyond the main entrance of any building and are under no legal obligation to carry shopping upstairs where no elevator is available. Check the supplier contract. Personal safety always takes precedence. You might ask why the disabled are upstairs? 9/
That they often do is because they are human beings that will want to help others even though it goes beyond what they are paid to do, and in so doing are assuming all the "risk" that their employers "avoid". Some are also afraid of not getting the overtime work they need. /10
As they are on flexible contracts starting at just 12 hours a week. It would be great if people were guaranteed enough work hours to enable them to live on instead of being "on call" for scraps of work only when it suits their employers.
"Essential" these changes are made. 11/
