The Office was great cause you believed every character in it. You even knew every character in it. Gervais hasn't done that since. Every effort since has been packed with unbelievable, outright silly characters all centred around him, the one sane person in this world of stupid.

Post fame Gervais has been an arse of a man and his work since has reflected that in almost every way. Even if he has shown a knack in After Life for portraying grief it doesn't mean the sitcom has worked. He's completely lost it and will never refind it.
