1/26 – The first-ever Royal Automobile Club 🇬🇧Grand Prix was held at Brooklands, near Weybridge in Surrey, on Saturday 7th August 1926

2/26 – Brooklands Motor Circuit was the 🤔of Hugh Fortescue Locke King, inspired by an eventful 🚗trip to the Coppa Florio in 🇮🇹 and built in 9 months, thanks mainly to wife Ethel’s drive

3/26 – 🇬🇧 earned a place on the Grand Prix calendar following Henry Segrave’s win at the 🇫🇷 GP at Tours in 1923, driving a Sunbeam

4/26 – In 1926, racing was illegal on closed public roads in mainland 🇬🇧; the 3 options - hold the race in 🇮🇪 🇮🇲 or Brooklands, then still 🇬🇧’s only permanent race track

5/26 – a 500-mile GP to be held at Brooklands in 1925 was cancelled due to ongoing disputes with local residents over noise from the Track; the resulting requirement for an extra silencer on all racing cars makes the 1926 & 1927 🇬🇧 GPs unique in Grand Prix history
