This “sends a clear signal to British Muslims that Public Health England is not taking this matter seriously”.
Further evidence that the @MuslimCouncil (MCB) wants to homogenise British Muslims and lock many into a perpetual state of victimhood. #COVID19 https://www.theguardian.com/world/2020/apr/25/leading-muslims-hit-out-at-trevor-phillipss-role-in-covid-19-bame-deaths-inquiry?CMP=Share_AndroidApp_Tweet">https://www.theguardian.com/world/202...

Trevor Phillips:
- Former head of Commission for Racial Equality
- Former chair of the Equality and Human Rights Commission
- Chairman of Green Park Diversity Analytics
- Recipient of France& #39;s Legion of Honour
MCB, along with Naz Shah, are not doing themselves any favours.

MCB, along with Naz Shah, are not doing themselves any favours.
The broader problem the MCB has, is that its efforts to speak on behalf of British Muslims - a diverse population - is not matched by representation.
And it must also understand that criticisms of multiculturalism, and anti-Muslim prejudice, do not necessarily go hand-in-hand.

The idea that swathes of British Muslims are left utterly disappointed by Public Health England& #39;s appointment of Trevor Phillips, is for the birds.
It is an angle that may work for The Guardian, but for a good number, it is laughable. And not helped by Naz Shah supporting it.

I would genuinely be interested in a poll of British Muslims to see:
- % who know Trevor Phillips
- % who have an opinion on him
- % who are aware of his appointment by PHE
- % who have a clear view on his appointment
For that matter, the % who have interacted with the MCB.

The Guardian - an outlet I used to have respect for - is now continuously responsible for providing a platform for organisations which are not representative of the specific faith and ethnic groups they supposedly speak on behalf of.
It only serves to weaken its own reputation.
