At an alumni event a couple years ago, I put this together as part of a quick presentation (so not exhaustive)... This is where DW alumni have gone on to work in recent years... The map is just littered with DW alumni working in journalism today. (3/) #SaveStudentNewsrooms

Self-funded (as best as possible, at least, via @DailyWildcat advertising), Arizona Student Media is running on an operating budget that's $1.1 million a year LESS than it was a decade ago. That drop again next year. And yet the students press on. (19/) #SaveStudentNewsrooms

This next month will be one of the most important in the history of the 121-year old @DailyWildcat (est. 1899). The case will be made to university administration that student media is a vital, necessary resource to a massive institution of higher ed. (20/) #SaveStudentNewsrooms

Financially, @DailyWildcat isn't what it once was, and that's a problem. We've amassed significant deficits, and are grateful for support in recent years from areas of campus that didn't *have* to step up behind the scenes, but did. (21/) #SaveStudentNewsrooms

Yet, during+aftermath of COVID-19, that financial support likely will change. So... we'll have to do what Student Media/ @DailyWildcat has always done: find a way to raise money, to pay for important work. (22/) #SaveStudentNewsrooms
