I hate that we have to have this discussion every so often but I genuinely hate the reduction and trivialisation of personal tastes and expression about films on twitter in the name of "positivity."
Like it or not, everyone has their own personal tastes. Some more rigid than others as well as some that don't fit in with the current mould of contemporary cinema.

It's good to listen and understand other viewpoints, but this constant reduction of personal opinion is stupid.
Too often I see people essentially saying "I really didn't like watching this but I see what other people liked about it so, therefore, I think it's great"

it is great to listen and understand what others think, but your opinion does matter. Why reduce your own tastes?
I also see (and note this is only when someone is upset someone else doesn't like a movie they do) the expression "that's just your opinion."

And they are correct in that it is just an opinion. But why does that necessarily invalidate their voice?
Most significant art movements came as a response and/or an act of rebellion to the then-current norm of art.

Rigidly individual artistic preferences can sometimes change and progress entire mediums. So why is it so frowned upon to hold them now?
Guess I'm just ranting now so I'll wrap it up.

It's always great to broaden your artistic horizons and test your taste and listen to those with differing artistic views but your opinion matters and shouldn't be reduced in the name of "positivity"
This culture that all art demands your respect and love despite your own opinion on it is just as snobbish and reductive as someone with rigid preferences who consider everyone who doesn't agree with them as idiots.

It is the same behaviour.
To clarify: focusing on films you like and not talking much about the stuff you don't like has nothing about this! And I think can be a great film
