HOW EMOTIONS FUCK WITH OUR ABILITY TO MAKE SHIT. A short thread. https://twitter.com/Mike_at_Arms/status/1254280739853500421
I needed to make a diagram. This is actually something I first heard in a talk that we give to our top sales people every year, and it really stuck with me.

So. A DIAGRAM.
Basically, how emotions impact our work. There are points labeled on this diagram, and woo-hoo here's how it goes. It's charting basically our relative emotions as we go.

So we start out at 1) unfounded optimism.
WOO-HOO you're BULLET PROOF. You are READY TO TAKE SHIT ON. It feels awesome. This is like when you are knocked on your ass with a brand new story idea and you are like "FUCK YES THIS ROOOCKS" and you scribble away madly.
Quickly then you move to step 2: FRUSTRATION. Things are starting to go down hill. The idea was great and you wrote 10 pages brainstorming, and you even starting writing and the first 10k are GREAT.

But now moving into the middle of the story it's... less great.
You're still going. You're still moving. But suddenly you can't seem to do anything right. You don't have the motivation. You're making terrible stuff. It's like every step you take feels like a step back but you keep plugging away, grinding to get better.

BUT it doesn't.
