Ok y'know fuck it, since I'm Impatient and I hate misinformation
Info abt Japanese culture for non-JP people, coming from someone who's been to Japan and is Japanese; A thread:
JP Schools ①:
- Kindergarten is it's own type of school, whereas grades 1-6 is elementary, 7-9 are middle, and 10-12 are high school
- The grades start back to 1 once they go up a school
- ex: Elementary grade six becomes Middle school grade one the next year
JP Schools ②:
-Teachers go to the classrooms instead of the students moving
-Commonly, there are 10 minute breaks between each class where students can chat or hangout with others
-Cafeterias are fairly uncommon, especially in older schools; most eat in the classroom
JP Schools ③:
-In most prefectures, it is a requirement to learn how to swim, due to the threat of Tsunamis and floods. The class I took showed us what to do if we were stuck in a flood!
-Janitors are rare and students mostly clean the classrooms (I'm sure you've seen this tho)
JP Schools ④:
-Chalkboards are more common in school compared to smartboards or whiteboards
-Some schools don't allow you to have a social media (My friend Sat-chan isn't allowed to have one, but my friend Ari is allowed to)
-Some schools will not allow you to bring sweets!!
JP Schools ⑤:
-High School is optional, but people commonly go, same with Uni
-First graders will wear a hat like the picture below! This is to help drivers to watch out for them when walking to school! It can also serve as an insurance if a driver hits a child with the cap on!
JP School ⑥:
-From 1st grade and onward, kids will walk or take the train to school, depending on how far the school is!
-Students have to learn at least 2,000 Kanji from 1-9th grade
-Yes, there is such thing as Black JP people, there were a few at the school I went to smh
I'm gonna end it here for tonight gn
