Good things: the shared data (if you’re positive) *will* be deleted when pandemic is over, & will be stored in Australia not offshore. The data on your own device is deleted every 21 days.

From my reading of it as someone involved in data ethics this is much improved #covidsafe
I think they’ve (for once) been listening to data privacy concerns. They’ve changed things, like the bits mentioned above, because they really want good uptake.

It took a pandemic, but I think they listened.
How about, going forward, we continue to have this emphasis on data privacy?

This is the first time our government has deployed a digital service with user privacy at its core, that is protected by strong legislation for ONE SPECIFIC USE, and requiring consent at two points.
*Note MyHealthRecord failed two of those tests. Mandatory data retention, if you could call that a service, failed all three. The list goes on.

Hence our collective hesitation.
