like oh boy mass censorship? militarism and nationalism becoming the civic religion? endemic poverty and wealth divides? flags everywhere? people getting emotionally attached to leaders who couldn't give less of a shit about them

also work camps for dissidents, media that only serves to distribute state propaganda, militarization of all walks of life...
if you dislike the US, you'd dislike the DPRK. if you like the US, you'd like the DPRK.

conditions *are* worse for the average person in the DPRK than the US, but the US is not constantly under intense sanctions (and also so large as to have a lot more leeway with self-sufficiency)
