Got back into #thehobby of sports card collecting about 5 yrs ago. Been making memories with my son ever since. He’s realllly getting into it now, checking all his card values on ebay. Today he says he wants to sell something -Thread-

So we head down to my basement office where his cards are stored to search. Lots of interesting items to choose from but one item stood out. 2017 Contenders Patrick Mahomes Rookie of the Year insert. Pretty cool card:
-MVP of the league
-Superbowl champion
-Rookie insert

We pull up ebay to get an idea on valuation. $10-20 card it seems. Nice score! But Jake instantly notices something special about this card. Something even I missed. He has the green foil variation... Those are going for $55-60. To a 9 yr old thats hitting it BIG!

We notice some whiting on the bottom right edge but nothing too bad. Will definitely diminish the value a bit, but he’s still walking on air. Now I created a buy sell trade facebook card group about 5 yrs ago. It now has 19k+ members! I tell him I’ll list his card...

So we post a description and I teach him how to coin his item (pic attached). Within a half hour we have an offer. I can tell he’s already hooked for life. Now the fun part comes...negotiation.

Luckily, the buyer was an acquaintance of mine so he didn’t drive a hard bargain. When all was said and done Jake walked away with 4 PC cards including a @joeybosa99 relic, @drewbrees insert, and two cards with some of our beloved hometown #browns. @obj @NickChubb21 @God_Son80

...and the best part. A cool $30 cash burning a hole in his pocket ready to be spent on xbox games, I’m sure. Hoping his first sale experience kicks off a lifetime love of the thrill of the buy sell trade flip game that @garyvee has rekindled in me. /Thread

I noticed my friend @TheRealBobEvans liked this thread. This reminded me of a night we were hanging out at a #cavs game several years ago where he told me a name I hadnt been familiar with that I shouldnt be surprised if the #browns drafted in the upcoming draft. Patrick Mahomes.
