In some non #kimjongundead news, here's an archival bit, a k-hed actually, from 1971, about an ambassador who shot himself rather than leave Pyongyang for Jakarta.
OK - a wee thread.
My friend Teguh Santosa from Rakyat Merdeka Online, and a North Korea watcher here in Indonesia, says its not quite how I stated.
The ambassador, Hartono, was a Indonesian Marine Corps general – and a hardcore Sukarno supporter, even after 1965.

After Suharto officially replaced Sukarno in 1968, Hartono became Indonesia's man in Pyongyang. In 1971, he was summoned (or decided to return) to Jakarta amid Operation Dolphin, a purge of suspected communists (PKI) in the New Order's navy.
It's unclear what happened in Jakarta. Hartono's niece allegedly heard him say "I'm just afraid of Saptamarga" – the oath, kind of, sworn by Indonesian Military members –
Hours before Hartono was slated to return to Pyongyang, he shot himself.

So Twitter's response to North Korea's byzantine politics led me to this byzantine story of Indonesian New Order politics. Huh.
Anyway, the above info is from the link below, and thanks to Teguh Santosa from rmol dot id for the background.

Here's mas Teguh's writings about Hartono's death, as well. Mas Teguh says that Hartono's picture still hangs on the walls in Indonesia's embassy in Pyongyang /thread https://teguhtimur.com/2008/01/30/mengapa-bung-karno-tak-mau-memukul-soeharto/
