My Father has been growing organic vegetables on the rooftop (not a very large space). In old water tanks and some pots. Today’s harvest looks like this 😊 photo sent by my son who has a sudden interest in farming and is helping Nana ( I am glad for that)
Many people had showed interest in how this rooftop garden looks like. I am attaching a few pictures to give ideas . Most of the pots were old broken water tanks that we collected in our bid to keep it sustainable. You can see Lauki, Turai and tomatoes.
The creepers have to be tied up periodically and taken care of .. you can see new Lauki and some turai ( ridge gourd )
The plants need pollination so plant a mix of bright flowers along with plants to attract bees
The plants also needs constant new saplings so new plants have to be planted before and then transferred .
The tomato plants are now old so new plants have been planted
The in-house security guard ( pun intended) keeps the birds and rats away 😂
The bhindi flower and the new Guar fali plants ..
I hope this has helped people about the idea of roof top plants .. and I shall be happy to help anyone else asking .. the spinach can simply be cut from top using a scissors. Coriander had to be hidden due to heat.
