Thoughts on Facebook’s Messenger for kids:

It’s a great idea to give parents visibility over contact list and messages. You are responsible for their safety until they’re old enough to be responsible. 1/2
It’s a bad idea to give kids any Facebook product including this one.

FB hoovers up data and creates profiles for people who don’t even have accounts. Why on earth would you give them data for your kid?

You are also responsible for their data privacy until they’re old enough.
So, on balance, no.

When they’re old enough to understand the price of using Facebook products (their personal data), maybe 13 or 14, they can decide themselves.
