So I decided on Thursday that I wanted to make my own mask to wear to stores because I hate the ones with elastic that goes around my head. So, I got out my sewing machine and scrap material. I texted my mom to borrow her iron because mine wasn’t working and I threw it out.

So she said yeah and told me she’d bring it to me. So I got out my material and picked several pieces to make masks with. Mom got here with the iron and immediately said “I don’t want a stupid mask. I am not gonna walk around like I’m wearing a burka!”

I said, “okay but I found this material I thought you’d like (pink flowers with glittery finish)”... she said, “you can make it if you want to, but I’m not going anywhere that I need one!”
Me: “umm ok but most stores are going to require it even when stuff opens up.”

Then my dad shows up. They both start in with the Fox News BS line of “it’s no worse than the flu. More people died from the flu last year!”
Me: “ok. More people died from the flu in 7 months, but this is 52,000 people in 5 weeks.”
Them: “it’s BS. We don’t believe it!”

Today: mom shows up unannounced with her BFF... they walk in and she says “I came over to get my mask.”
Me: “ummm, I didn’t make your mask because you said it was fake and didn’t want one.”
Her: “but you said you were making one for me.”
Me: “you can borrow mine”

Her BFF says: “yeah we need masks. You can’t even get into Sam’s Club without a mask.”
Me: “ok. I have a couple y’all can borrow.”
Mom: “thank you! That’s awesome!”
I made them both a mask while they were gone. They get back and pick them up and leave.

After they leave, a couple minutes later, mom calls me and says “could you make two masks? One for her mom and dad? Make one for her dad like you were gonna make for your dad.”
Me: “sure no problem.”
Me to my hubby: “OMG... can you believe this shit?”

So my mom and dad were all against masks when I told them they would need them. She compared it to a burka for F’s sake but now, she’s all giddy for one. Holy crap, trumpbots be cray cray.
