False Inciting Incident:

In some stories the main conflict kicks in only in the second act – but the story requires extensive setup, and without some kind of inciting incident first act would feel undramatic.

In such cases –

(A)

– a story may include an "Inciting Incident-like" event – a scene that has characteristics of an Inciting Incident, without serving that function in the story!

The true Inciting Incident will in this case happen in Act 2.
