I just went on a big discussion with my friend about how Community is filled with an implicit sadness about the inevitability of the main characters separating but being bound by their love and how this is underlined by the intro song and by Somewhere Out There
and how the main characters keep echoing somewhere out there by saying these words, and how it binds specifically abed and troy too because they're the one who sing it but also for other reasons
like for example from the intro "But I love you more than words can say, I can't count the reasons I should stay" yes it foreshadows the group separating and not wanting to because they love each other, but also specifically this phrase to me can be applied to abed and jeff
the two most notably bad at expressing their feelings. while I think it all centers around jeff and his difficulty separating, it still to me also talks about abed and troy, and how even if they separate they will be under the same sky and their love will keep them bound
which you know, happens, and also in the valentines episode troy echoes this sentiment again when he says "There's someone out there for us." and I'm INSANE because I have felt this sadness about the inevitable separation of the main cast that the show implies -
at least since the final parts of s1 and the show just kept drilling it in me the more I watched and I just think that's so neat and cool that it does this but also I'm INSANE.
