The contact tracing app is a significant test for our Govt.
Have they:
- released the source code
- released a PIA
- released a bill setting out meaningful legal safeguards
- explained how the app will be effective & complement existing contact tracing by public health experts? https://twitter.com/R_Chirgwin/status/1254157243244658689">https://twitter.com/R_Chirgwi...

The contact tracing app is also a test for our media.
Have journalists consulted with technical, security, privacy, legal & public health experts before writing about or discussing the app?
Have journalists demanded transparency from our politicians?

The contact tracing app is also a significant test for the Opposition:
Have they:
- asked the Government to release the source code; an independent PIA, a draft bill?
- have they released their own draft bill?
- have they engaged with the relevant experts?

How then is the contact tracing app a test for the public?
Perhaps it is a "test" to see if we will demand a Govt & media that:
- earns our trust;
- meaningfully works with experts,
- promotes transparency
- communicates clearly and with empathy?

*apologies for the jargon - a PIA is a Privacy Impact Assessment. These should be independent & follow the guidance set out by the @OAICgov https://www.oaic.gov.au/privacy/guidance-and-advice/guide-to-undertaking-privacy-impact-assessments/">https://www.oaic.gov.au/privacy/g...
And the Government should be properly funding the @OAICgov
