I think I& #39;m going to do a self imposed game jam with the deadline of June 1st. I& #39;m basically going to start and make a game for the month of may and release it on May 1st. I& #39;m thinking it& #39;ll be a short mega man style platformer.

Wish me luck!
So I think I& #39;ll use this thread to chronicle what I& #39;ve done.
Today, it was mostly brainstorming and outlining. I came up with the general premise and started on a dev doc with ideas for the character, her abilities, the main villains she faces, and what the levels could be like.
The premise is the main character is a space hero and is fighting against an evil space wizard and his lackeys. Those that see in a handful of my posts are familiar with my fondness for space anime of the 80& #39;s and 90& #39;s. well that will be the inspiration. Pure pulp nonsense.
The game will have a structure like a typical Mega Man game. There will be a short intro stage, then players can choose from four stages/bosses, then there& #39;s a multiple "wily& #39;s castle" for the finale.
Players will get new weapons and passive abilities after each of the main four bosses they defeat.
Here is the initial designs for our to-be protagonist. I think I like the first one with her hair down better, though the little hair floof sticking out of the hood/helmet is very cute.
I& #39;m not too sure about the lipstick, but my partner suggested it helped the details pop a bit better when in game and I agree.
I& #39;m used to drawing sprites that are much smaller (4x4 or 8x8), so one thing I did was redraw Mega Man& #39;s sprite to figure out propositions and use it as a rough guide. It was actually really helpful.
