why do something useful with my day when I could instead develop an argument rooted in Gothic theory to explain why Vincent Valentine feels mishandled in the Compilation of FFVII games

you don't NEED theory to explain it but it's FUN to use theory to explain it

(the tl;dr is that he's written to a Gothic heroine archetype rather than a Gothic hero archetype but they're really afraid of actually addressing that so they keep throwing him into danger and being like 'ooh man shoot gun so he is strong and cool actually')
