i feel like people have this misconception that healing happens overnight, or it happens once you do something, for example self care, a few times. and i’ve really been learning that that just...isn’t the case.
if you have been dealing with something, whatever it is, for years, in my mind it only makes sense that it’s going to take time for that thing to begin healing. it takes patience, love, and tender care. it doesn’t just magically go away after a week of inner work.
that week may need to turn into a few months, or maybe even a few years in order to see noticeable progress. and when i say this, i don’t mean it in a way to deter people from starting their healing journey with something.
i say it because healing takes commitment. and that’s not always easy. commitment isnt always easy because that requires self discipline & an unshakeable willingness to do the work, especially when we begin to see things that we don’t want to face.
that’s where the real work is done imo.
