The Hilltop Beacon, the student paper, was where the Roslyn scandal first broke. Before any other newspaper. But it wasn’t from some gumshoe reporter. IIRC, one of the student journo’s parents was on the school board and overheard a phone convo about it. #BadEducationHBO

Yep, Tassone used the school card to take trips to London on the Concorde. When asked about it in the press, his lawyer said something along the lines of, “No one told him how to get to London. What was he supposed to do, take a rowboat?” #BadEducationHBO

You see those perfectly tailored Brioni suits? Tassone spent over $30,000 of the school’s money to dry clean them. #BadEducationHBO

I was in the lighting/backstage team for the drama club. When the scandal went public, the school board meeting was moved from the cafeteria to the theater. So we set it up… with Steve Miller Band’s “Take the Money and Run” playing on the PA. True story. #BadEducationHBO

That school board meeting was absolutely packed with angry parents thirsty for blood. We watched it all from the lighting booth. (Far cry from “Songs for a New World.”) #BadEducationHBO

The 2002-03 school year, my freshman year, was a defining one for me. Not only did my school get embroiled through an unprecedented scandal, I also lost my dad to lung cancer. #BadEducationHBO

You see, kiddies? Crime does pay. If you embezzle 11 million dollars from a public school district, you could get @RealHughJackman and @AllisonBJanney to play you in a movie. You’ll even get to keep your six figure pension! #BadEducationHBO

The Roslyn school board tried to keep the scandal under wraps. They wanted Tassone to repay the embezzled money under the table to save the school's reputation as a top ten public school in the nation. I still can't believe it. #BadEducationHBO
