Intuitively- authoritarian country, how can you do a survey on government support? This is not some novel objection that the academics conducting surveys totally didn't think of. Methodology always matters as does incorporating these factors into a substantial margin or error. https://twitter.com/AndreMaldito/status/1254179842838482945
A pretty good breakdown of "why", and what you will hear from most Chinese in private conversation:

This is basically an on the ground perspective- data plus anecdote.
It's not just one study, it's dozens, and meta-studies, polled across a range of subjects, done by non-Chinese reputable polling companies and researchers..

Even the most hawkish China watchers concede that the government has widespread support.
Also quite good:

And again- this is no defense of all that the Chinese government does. I've been on the receiving end of some really bad stuff- some I've posted, some I have not. It is pointing out that any savior narrative requires robbing us of agency.
Yes- there is no way Chinese poll numbers will ever be as accurate as say, Germany's and yes propaganda and control of the media does play a significant role in shaping people's expectations. You see new roads and hospitals being built every day on TV- that affects your opinion.
But, we can look at areas like housing costs, hukou, and education issues and see that Chinese are quite critical of the government when they are dissatisfied- and polls reflect this.

Again, like everything else, simple Twitter takes are not the entire picture.
For obvious reasons I can't have my feed become a platform for attacking the Chinese government. I'm truly amazed how hard it is for people to grasp this. I fully support this criticism- elsewhere, may it keep us on our toes. But really, consider a bit of background reading first
