I’m going to be completely honest.

I realize now that that was privilege.

I could afford not to pay attention, but there were others who felt then like I feel today, and their situation has only gotten worse under Trump—so I’m paying attention. And when it’s over, I’ll still keep paying attention.

But I miss when I didn’t have to.
