A few hundred protestors gathered outside the Minnesota Governor's Mansion Saturday to demonstrate against the state shutdown in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, urging the Walz administration to ease off of sweeping restrictions. @StarTribune
Shortly after the protest started, a group of four counter-protesters arrived, donning medical scrubs. Three of them say they work as emergency nurses at a local ER.
They were met with cheers and jeers, with some protestors thanking them for their work and others claiming they were crisis actors looking for a viral moment.
One of the counter protesters says he's a Trump supporter. He said he hopes to show protestors that his presence wasn't political and that he actually supports the president. His wife works as a registered nurse and he was there to support her and others in the profession.
The protest today was held as the state announced it's deadliest day yet, with 23 Minnesotans dying from COVID-19 and another 244 confirmed infections. https://www.startribune.com/minnesota-deaths-up-23-to-244-in-covid-19-pandemic/569950232/
