I couldn& #39;t watch the Met gala.

Honestly, I& #39;m having a hard time watching content by a lot of cultural institutions, knowing they are heavily promoting content and art made by people they are no longer paying
I get the realities on the ground--I& #39;m not new to arts admin, so please don& #39;t come at me with that. It& #39;s just sort of becoming even clearer where priorities are at some cultural institutions and it& #39;s hard to see
image scans, educational videos, and music were created by people who are on unemployment *if they are lucky* (unemployment is still not really clearcut for certain people who had PT/temp contracts)—and a lot those workers are being treated as though they& #39;re easily replaceable.
I dunno. I have no further point. I& #39;m just upset.
just so much work being posted all over social media that the people being paid to post/promote/etc. it couldn& #39;t make no matter how much you paid them
So give your donations—it is important to remember if you are a regular donor to a nonprofit, musical or otherwise, you are part of their budget estimates. I can& #39;t donate at the moment anyway, but definitely will be doing more research on this kind of thing before future gifts.
also I said this in some replies but just to be clear: I support creators no matter what they choose to do when asked to work for free in circumstances largely out of their control. It& #39;s just a bit painful for me personally to engage with at the moment is all.
