In the meantime I'm gonna drop a thread about books that taught me something!! https://twitter.com/sayhabibti/status/1254162902854049794
A book about the prophet Elijah going through all sorts of pain and sadness, throughout the book he also faces challenges regarding the life he is supposed to life vs the one he lives
Two Parisians find themselves dead, upon meeting eachother in the afterlife they realise they were destined to be soulmates and get a chance at living - a book about love, loss, betrayal and making the choices that wll in turn make choices for you
Camus' takes on revolution, counterrevolution, rebellion as a natural trait, absurdity and the failure of reaching human perfection
I just rlly love @paulocoelho srry - a novel about Mata Hari, who goes from being broke dancer to being able to seduce the richest and most powerful of Paris in the 1910's
After a minor issue caused by our hero's emotions, a young Candide is forced to wander around in countries all around the globe - quickly gained and quickly lost yet it is the best all worlds had to offer
Most people read this in school but there are lots of important things to learn from it: racism, genderroles and the unfair treatment of the black community (in Alabama in the Depression-era)
This satire-ridden book by Orwell illustrates the fear of revolution: a group of farm animals refuse to be slaves of humans any longer and take matters into their own hands (paws), making the world a dystopian one. A nod to the Soviet Union from a Western perspective
You know when you used to write wattpad stories about your own life? Goethe did it in 1774. A story about one-sided love for a married woman in the form of letters. To solve the love triangle that hurts him so bad Werther sees no other way out than the extreme one
Part of a huge ass series called Les Rougon-Macquart, Etienne, a young miner, starts to spread revolutionary ideas and this sparks a strike - a book about pushing through, lots of hardships and recognition for your own power
I love Dan Brown more than myself, in this book scientist Edmond Kirsch is about to reveal the answer to the eternal questions "where do we come from?" & "where are we going?" But he get killed - a race against time for our hero Langdon. Science and faith clashing
Short stories about losing women - to others & to death
About a smart boy that will have to choose between the red (the blood - the idolization of Napoleon) or the black (the clergy - the part he plays in his region's catholicism)
@elissarmdw u a lil too fast sis
A book about defying the odds and followinf your (literal) dreams! About staying focused, being thankful and learning to love and to lose while having faith through it all
A look into the mind of xenophobes basically - not agreeing to it but it is important to understand the fears someone has, in this case, extreme globalization and the loss of nationalistic values
A literary fight against "existentialism" by our loved Camus. About a murder, the conviction and the distance between Meursault and his body as he seemingly shows no emotion - everybody is sentenced to die, killer and victim, we're all equal
The Suicide shop is exactly what it sounds like, everything here is to kill yourself with it. Dark comedy and lots of still relevant easter eggs (names and climate change for example). The book is almost a depiction of a fight between sadness/suicide/pessimism and optimism
