Keir Starmer is being urged to sack frontbencher Lloyd Russell-Moyle after the Mail on Sunday unearthed footage of incendiary comments he made at an election rally in late November.
In September, he justified the taxpayer paying for bulletproof glass at home: “There has been a spike in hate crimes, attacks and assaults on MPs, whipped up by the words and language the PM uses..it only takes one person to take it too far and someone could be seriously injured”
Eight weeks later he told a Labour rally: “the Conservatives have conspired to murder and let die British citizens” and Brighton is “not Tory-free enough for my liking. We’ve still got a few more to rout out but because of your fantastic door-knocking we know where they live.”
Labour MP Neil Coyle: “The use of extreme language was partly what put so many voters off supporting Labour in December. Accusations of murder or conspiracy should not be used to try to stir up hatred and division.”
