Nonsense like this is why advice should be coming from statisticians, not medical people. At peak, it didn& #39;t overwhelm the NHS, now it& #39;s down 40% and will fall further even if lockdown ended immediately - because people don& #39;t go from zero to hospitalisation overnight.
The goal should be to get up to around 6,000 and stay there until social interaction can no longer produce that many cases. Going to a few hundred would be socially and economically devastating. (And will make any 2nd wave much, much worse.)
Any strategy that suggests locking people up for months is either
(A) a strategy peddled by someone with no understanding of human behaviour.
(B) a strategy peddled by someone who& #39;s ok with a police state.
