I'm so excited to let you all know that I am opening up a #contentstrategy role for Shopify's Ecosystem team. It's so fresh, I don't have a job description to link to. Here are some things you should know about the role:
1) The role is for a new creative services team. You'll work with a small team that will bring the products we build and the story of our @ShopifyPartners to life. It's not a content marketing or social media role — you won’t be writing blogs or tweets.
2)You'll work closely with our pals on the marketing team (incl. the fantastic @delynator), but you'll be part of our user experience (UX) team with other designers, content strategists, UX devs, and researchers. You'll get to know folks like @emcguane, @ow and @mishafrolov.
3) You'll define the voice and content strategy for our Ecosystem marketing efforts and will create a plan that empowers people across the company to use it. We're a carrots, not sticks kind of a place and we'll look for you to enable people to tell great stories with clarity.
4) You'll love words and language. You are someone who writes simple, clear, human content that also inspires. We want you to flex your creative chops and push us outside of our comfort zone, but you should be allergic to jargon and bullshit.
5) You'll be deeply curious about the problems we’re solving and the end-to-end experiences we’re building so you can understand the impact of content at every touchpoint. You'll be user focused and care a whole lot about what our Partners need and care about.
6) You'll act as a bridge between content strategists working on our product and our marketing team so we're telling the same story from our marketing material through to the experiences we’re building that our partners and merchants use.
7) You'll stay close to research and data to understand the impact of your work so you can build context and make decisions informed by empathy for our partners.
We're looking for a minimum 3 years of experience and a portfolio of work you've directly contributed to. In the interview, we'll want to hear about the creative and UX decisions you made in your work. We'll also be curious to hear how you collaborate & make tradeoffs.
Although this role will be based in Toronto, we know moving isn't possible right now. If you're not in Toronto, know that we'll help you relocate when the time is right given restrictions and challenges due to COVID19. In the meantime, you'll join us in working remotely.
If this sounds like a great opportunity but your experience isn't exactly what we’re looking for, know that we don’t expect you to check every box on this list. We’re dedicated to adding new perspectives to the team and we’d love to hear from you.
And holy Hannah! @Shopify is a fantastic place to work and grow your career.
