Okay I think I've remembered enough decent-yet-underrated 90s horror films to constitute a thread so buckle up yet again because the 90s was a weird fucking decade for horror https://twitter.com/crumlingothic_/status/1250870196916703234
Dark Waters (Mariano Baino, 1993)

No not that one with Mark Ruffalo but the one with the nuns on the island with the fish monster, strange little euro horror that's worth a look
New Nightmare (Wes Craven, 1994)

Easily in the top 3 Elm Street films, brought the franchise away from comedy a bit and into more meta horror territory
Hardware (Richard Stanley, 1990)

Kind of like a grungy dystopian terminator type film with some class practical effects, thank god Richard Stanley is finally making a comeback
Nightbreed (Clive Barker, 1990)

Mad how in a film full of brilliant monster makeup the highlight is still David Cronenberg as Dr. Decker, what a boss
Event Horizon (Paul W.S. Anderson, 1997)

Sam Neill giving it socks in one of the most bonkers and bloody cosmic horrors you'll ever feast your eyes upon
In The Mouth of Madness (John Carpenter, 1994)

Sam Neill and cosmic horror again in John Carpenters most underrated film, as well as one of his best scores as well
Perfect Blue (Satoshi Kon, 1997)

I feel like Darren Aronofsky owes his whole career to this film
Hellraiser III: Hell on Earth (Anthony Hickox, 1992)

Not as good as the first two but Pinhead making quippy one liners was certainly a choice, and that club massacre scene is fucking brilliant stuff
Ravenous (Antonia Bird, 1999)

Really fantastic cannibal horror with Robert Carlyle at his most off the rails, and a cracking soundtrack by Damon Albarn and Michael Nyman
Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me (David Lynch, 1992)

David Lynch really went and took all the mad psychological horror from Twin Peaks and turned it up to 11 here, easily one of his most terrifying films
The People Under the Stairs (Wes Craven, 1991)

Speaking of Twin Peaks, Ed and Nadine Hurley returned to terrorise some kids in this underappreciated Wes Craven film
The Exorcist III (William Peter Blatty, 1990)

Almost just as good as the original and has one of the best jump-scare moments ever, also Brad Dourif can do no wrong
Braindead (Peter Jackson, 1992)

Peter Jackson I am begging you to please make another schlocky gorefest like this to ease my pain
A Cat in the Brain (Lucio Fulci, 1990)

Lucio Fulci playing himself here in a film where he thinks he is actually a serial killer and has to clear his name, a must watch for all ye Fulci fans
Tales From the Hood (Rusty Cundieff, 1995)

Really great anthology horror produced by Spike Lee of all people, very clever, very funny, and still very relevant
Castle Freak (Stuart Gordon, 1995)

Trust the late Stuart Gordon to take a short Lovecraft story and turn it into an absolutely class gothic horror, easily one of the best horror films of the 90s would highly recommend
Two Evil Eyes (George Romero & Dario Argento, 1990)

Two legends coming together for an Edgar Allan Poe anthology film, Romeros segment is ok but Dario Argentos Black Cat feels like a real celebration of Poe in general
Frankenhooker (Frank Henenlotter, 1990)

Frank Henenlotters signature brand of trashy madness, it's exactly what you think it is
Wishmaster (Robert Kurtzman, 1997)

A fun film full of incredible practical effects from Greg Nicotero, as well as countless cameos from various horror icons
Dellamorte Delamore (Michele Soavi, 1994)

And last but not least, Rupert Everett going around shootin zombies, ridin, and loosing his mind altogether, unreal stuff
O shit meant to put Texas Chainsaw III in this thread because Viggo Mortensan is fucking class in it, also Ken Foree
