I’ve just had a fantastic email from one of my uncles. As some of you may know, I recently began researching my family tree. My dads parents both passed away before I was born. My grandad passed away in 1958 & my nan passed away in 1978. I was born in 1979...
..add to that the fact that my extended family are also somewhat of a mystery, the research has been a revelation. Up until just, I’d never seen my dads mom & my dads dad, but my uncle had just sent me pictures of them both & I’m absolutely over the moon...
this is my grandad. His name was Leonard Bevan & he was born in Aston, Birmingham on the 30th July, 1904. He worked as a ‘tool hardener’ (no laughing at the back 😂) all of his life until he passed away in 1958. This was taken in about 1927, so Leonard would’ve been about 23 here
..& this is my nan. Her name was Sarah Bevan (nee Derrington). She was born in Hockley, Birmingham on the 9th of October, 1906. This picture was also taken in about 1927 when Sarah was around 21, shortly before or after this they were married at St Matthias’s church in Aston...
..it’s amazing to finally be able to put faces to names. It’s wonderful to see the faces of my grandparents. Leanne thinks I looked a lot like Leonard when I was his age. Not so much now. I’ve put on a bit of timber apparently 😂But this has really made my day 🙏🏻
