How good is Jude Bellingham?

In an effort to better understand Jude Bellingham, today we’ve created player highlights for a few of the highly rated Championship midfielders.

We’ll use data and numbers to analyze him, and maybe discover some other quality players along the way.
First up, Bellingham’s numbers. The fact that he’s 16 is impressive alone. He has also performed above average in 6/7 defensive categories, and 6/9 on the attacking and creativity category. Unfortunately, his passing numbers leave a lot to be desired.
After Bellingham, we’ll look at Klich from Leeds United. The Pole is having an outstanding season, his attacking and creativity numbers are phenomenal while his def contributions are lower. (This is because of his position on the field) His passing numbers are also pretty average
Next, we have Kalvin Phillips also from Leeds. Playing deeper in the formation, it’s no surprise he struggles in the first category. The defensive category though, Phillips is clearly dominant in every area. He also is above average in most passing stats except forward passes.
Following Phillips, we have Romaine Sawyers from West Brom. He’s pretty solid all around, specifically being above average in the passing. Besides for that, he’s generally just an above average player.
Now, John Swift from Reading. Although not doing much in the defensive area because of his position, John Swift is above average in everything else except forward passing ratio. This makes him our best so far going forward, but one of the worst defensively.
Just when you thought it couldn’t get worse defensively… Joshua Dasilva from Brentford appears on the list. This player is clearly more attacking minded, with quality found in his attacking and creativity stats. His passing is below average though, not great.
Josh Brownhill of Burnley, previously at Bristol: Below average in most defensive stats, but around the average in most attacking minded stats. Generally, he's a quality player but nothing too special on paper.
Second to last we have Barry Bannan from Sheffield Wednesday. Despite being almost double Bellingham’s age, he’s still a quality player. He excels at many creative stats and passing stats while not contributing a whole ton in the defense. Again, positioning plays a big part here.
Last on our list is Korey Smith from Bristol City. Also getting on in age, Smith seems right around the average for a midfielder in the league. He’s below average in creativity but he’s doing decent on his passing and defensive stats.
So how does this all line up with Bellingham?

Well, it definitely makes him look like one of the best midfielders in the league as well as a very unique one. Many players on this list had different combinations of quality, but none like Bellingham.
Despite low passing numbers, Jude is outstanding on both ends of the pitch with decent creativity contributions along with quality defensive stats. Bellingham is without a doubt one of the most talented teenagers in the world right now.

Did we mention he’s 16?
