Mason Greenwood - Whats all the hype about

(A thread)
Mason Greenwood looks to be Manchester United’s next star with people likening him to the likes of Robin Van Persie and I’ve decided to compile a report on why people believe he is so good
One of the main assets to Greenwood’s game is his ability to use both his left and right foot to extreme quality, meaning defenders aren’t able to read what angle he is going to shoot from in and around the box
He currently has 12 goals in 27 appearances this season in all competitions with 3 goals on his right foot and 9 goals on his left showing that he definitely prefers his left but can also shift onto his right if needed to and will only improve that unpredictability of his game
Another side to Greenwood’s game especially when playing as a centre forward which is his most natural position is his positioning in and around the box which gets him to the position for him to score the goal
As you can see in these 2 images that lead to Greenwood’s goals, he positions himself in the middle of the 2 centre backs giving him space to adjust his body and be able to score
Despite this, I believe that it is one of the things Greenwood does need to improve on in order to become one the best strikers and he can be a bit static in and around the box which I’m sure he will get better at which more service and growth
Another characteristic to Greenwood’s game is of him coming deeper to collect the ball and drive up with it, which are demonstrated in these 3 clips in which he picks up the ball and assists / scores in
Now onto his statistics, Greenwood has a very good goals per minute ratio coming in at 129 goals per minutes (GPM) which is impressively good and given the fact he normally comes on with around 10/20 mins to go he is very effective is those minutes
In comparison to other strikers in the premier league this season:

Harry Kane - 162 GPM

Raul Jimenez - 189 GPM

Roberto Firmino - 302 GPM
In comparison to other strikers in Europe this season (in there respective leagues):

Luis Suarez - 119 GPM

Mauro Icardi - 106 GPM

Romelu Lukaku - 134 GPM
The most eye catching part of Greenwood’s game is how good of a finisher he actually is wether it be in the box or outside and wether he be on the right or at centre forwards and he currently has a shooting success rate of 22.7% which is incredibly good
In comparison to other strikers in the Premier league (this season):

Sergio Aguero - 22.2% Shooting Success

Harry Kane - 19.6% Shooting Success

Anthony Martial - 18.3% Shooting Success
In comparison to other strikers in Europe (this season in there respective leagues):

Robert Lewandowski- 24.3% Shooting Success

Romelu Lukaku - 21.4% Shooting Success

Luis Suarez - 19.6% Shooting Success
The final stats I’d like to share is Greenwood’s incredible pass completion rate which is key to his game and why he does like to drop deep and also most become a creator especially with the fact that we play with inside forwards, his pass completion (PC) is currently at 83.19%
Comparison to other midfielders in the league (this season)

Paul Pogba - 82.8% PC

Kevin De Bruyne - 81.7% PC

Bruno Fernandes - 76.4 PC
I chose to compare him to some of the best midfielders in the league to actually show how good his passing is for such a young age and that he could be deployed a little deeper if we’re chasing a game
In conclusion I believe we have the right one of best talents in the world at our club right now and he definitely needs to be utilised as much as possible in order for him to continue to grow
