Our high HDI and other social indicators is a result of the lifestyle propped up by the successive migration to the Arabian Gulf States by luckless youths.
The Kerala Government's revenue has depended on Liquor and Lottery sales since the early 2000s - with both of them suspended, the state has little revenue.
The Kerala Model is in no way "self-reliant" or sustainable. A social model in certain indicators, no doubt. But there is no economy to back it up.
Societal 'progress' is a result of prosperity - *economic prosperity*- there is no one without the other. Our 'progress' is on borrowed time and money.
Course correction will not come any time soon, by the way. Only more screeching about 'What Kerala is owed' etc.
