Just a little PSA: Please, if you're going to create an online persona that is entirely based on your political orientation and opinions, be able to listen to others and be civil. I see so many people acting ignorant towards others because of their sole allegiance to one party.
The fact of the matter is, political ideology isn't binary. There are a range of policies that you can have opinions on, and that's valid! But don't fistfight over it!! If you disagree with someone's opinion, make a conversation out of it, don't just shit on it!!
And as for facts, do your research! Go beyond news institutions and look for scientific studies, statistics by reputable sources (.gov sites are always a go-to), and official publications. Spreading misinfo hurts everyone in the long run, so put in a minute or two and research!
If someone refutes your source with a different source, take some time and look at them under a lens. How are they different? Does one source lean towards one particular side of an issue while skimping out on the other side?
Use your deductive reasoning, NOT YOUR POLITICAL COMPASS, to identify which source is more complete and more likely to be the best resource. It's okay to be wrong, because being wrong means that you get to learn new things and expand your knowledge!
Twitter is a nightmare, and we're all just trying to make it through this pandemic. Be understanding and kind toward each other, and try to stay civil. Don't let the facade of parties divide you, because you may have more in common than you think. Stay safeđź’–
