“Shandro laid the blame of all misunderstandings and bad blood between the Alberta government and provincial doctors at the feet of the Alberta Medical Association”

He took no responsibility for the chaos he has created.

“Shandro had the opportunity on Friday to slather some soothing balm on the festering wounds he created with the province’s doctors and bandage them up”

“Instead of blaming himself for poorly communicating what the changes actually meant, Shandro lashed out at the AMA”

“Then he announced that the government would be taking over the administration of the liability reimbursement program. “This allows us to spend more on physicians and less on administration”

“But some physicians see this as a move by the government to wrest power away from the AMA”

“This is what happens when the health minister tears up its contract — or master agreement — with doctors, rather than negotiating with the AMA in good faith. That’s why the AMA is suing the province”

“Shandro should have taken more of the blame during Friday’s news conference, instead, he blamed the victim. It was tainted medicine”
