Bird sent a calendar invite to all its employees for a Zoom meeting about COVID-19 updates but when the meeting started someone read a 2 minute script notifying 406 employees that they were laid off. Then the meeting ended. https://www.theverge.com/2020/4/23/21231802/bird-electric-scooter-company-workplace-culture-layoffs
The company didn’t have an adequate webinar license to allow that many Zoom users, so many employees couldn’t even enter the meeting and learned about layoffs secondhand.
“And at least for a couple of minutes, Emma was luckier than Rebecca Hahn, the chief communications officer who was appointed to read a curt firing script, seemingly through tears, instead of the company’s founder and CEO Travis VanderZanden.”

Man, @travisv is a huge POS.
