As my birthday is, in fact, the perfect date I wanted to put together a thread of some of the gems I discovered last year while researching @LookingForLeia - which you can watch right now here > https://www.syfy.com/lookingforleia  Let's take a look .... 1/
1977: A girl's review of the new movie 'Star Wars'
Wherein Luke Skywalker is basically called out as being a Mary Sue & Leia is labeled as "bossy" 2/
I went looking for an OT era Star Wars toy ad that had a girl in it that wasn't selling a Leia or Ewok toy. All I came up with was this Mom lounging by her pool while her boys are playing with ROTJ toys. I imagine she's drinking a Tab. 3/
I also looked at a lot of OT "movie line" footage to see if there were women in them. There were! This clip shows women (seemingly there without their boyfriends!?!) raving about Return of the Jedi + Justin Trudeau as a Star Wars loving 11-year-old. 4/
I put together a timeline of where Star Wars fans were online before Twitter. rec.arts.sf.starwars, Club Jade, the Organa-zation SW mailing list, Darth Maul Estrogen Brigade!, etc. Someday I will publish that timeline somewhere. 5/
I spent a ton of time on Fanlore. It's an amazing resource and rabbit hole for fan history. Highly recommend. 6/ https://fanlore.org/wiki/Star_Wars
These are just a few fun things I discovered. Please watch @LookingForLeia ! Hire me to research and/or write about Star Wars & SW fans! & whenever the next Star Wars Celebration happens let's trade Star Wars cards/pins/stories/stickers in the nearest cantina. 7/7
