If you are enraged by the new name 'Jal Shakti', ask yourselves, haven't you been enabling these name changes. It didn't begin today. Remember 'Islamabad>Anantnag', 'Sulaiman Teng>Shankaracharya', and oh 'Nov Kadal> Nawa Kadal', WTH is 'Nawa', 'vormul>Baramulla',
When I was growing up, I have literally seen with my eyes bus conductors getting beaten up at Sovur Bus stand for calling out 'Islamabad' instead of 'Anantnag'. Our newspapers during early 20's began using such words while still bracketing 'Islamabad', eventually it was removed
Ask any woke kid from 'Biscoe and Mallinson' and they will tell you they had a tracking day at 'Shankaracharya'. The actual name 'Sulaiman Teng' was willfully fizzled out from the vocabulary.
Similarly, there is some kind of an obsession with us for changing the actual name to make them fit foreign languages by adding 'i/a/u'. e.g. I literally saw some post calling 'Gushtab' as 'Gushtaba', 'Nadur' as 'Nadru'.
It reeks of some kind of inferiority complex amongst some of us who do not even like to speak Koshur. For them, a kid speaking koshur is one you need to distance yourself from, for it is not 'woke' enough.
And unfortunately, this needs to be said, our women normalized 'I don't speak Koshur' to the extent that Koshur is under threat now.
Unfortunately, the last tweet in this thread came off as blaming one gender for it. That was not the intention. I can get triggered by cringe-worthy 'ooi sun na ooi' phrase that mostly 'woke' guys use while talking amongst themselves.
