while most of this thread is correct i feel like some of them is a little stereotypical and subjective?

i would prefer to say jp people are more "polite" rather than "shy and quiet" https://twitter.com/Tomo_todomomo/status/1253891658673868800
and even then, their politeness is due to the fact that it's more of an "unspoken law" rather than actual innate personalities
"there is always a loner in a japanese class year" sounds a little too ... ????????

like, dude, they're just normal people like us.
Maid cafes, butler cafes, monster cafes, etc. are a city novelty. You will not find them in a countryside town. It's really more of a metropolitan area kind of thing.
I wouldn't say going to an academy/juku is a norm either. It's really a matter of personal/parental choice. Like, some students would also prefer staying for after school special classes instead (my school has those).
Not all Japanese schools are uniform, especially the private schools. While detention is certainly not a part of the norm, it certainly exists. But it's very rare and schools would prefer punishing students through other means (extra school chores for them, extra homework, etc.)
To add to OP's thread:

Not going to uni as an option would often mean that the student would prefer going into the work force immediately (or headfirst so they could make their own money for college).

Students like these would receive specific guidance from the teacher on how to tackle work interviews.

While future uni/college students would be taught how to tackle university/college interviews.
