Someone DM'd me that I m not from Kano & I am taking the #Covid_19 issue in Kano very personal. I blocked him after I told him my mind. Truth is, may be I know how terrible the pandemic is more than many, having seen it grow where I live. I wish to categorically state here that:
I m not responsible for what anyone understands from my posts. It is my opinion & I m not responsible for how you understand it. In as much as we will blame the Kano state Gov @GovUmarGanduje for not setting state's own testing centers, we will equally blame the @NCDCgov for not
taking the exercise serious in Kano. We are talking about a state with an estimated population of 15 million people, yet you opened one test center after so much ado, & even that centre was poorly equipped, with a machine that takes only 20 samples at a time. As if that isn't
bad enough, the only centre ran out of REAGENTS & was locked, yet to be reopened. Lagos State has three Labs set by the same agency. Are lives in Lagos more precious than those in Kano? If someone speaks, you say it is showing some elements of tribalism. Do I care what your sick
mind thinks of what I post? I am not only ashamed of the state governor, but of every son & daughter of Kano & the North holding any political position where they can call the attention of the Governor for failing woefully, & the federal govt for not doing quarter of what it is
doing in Lagos. Forget about Ganduje asking for money. Please don't give him anything. Ask him what the state needs & make such supplies. Those in the position to speak sense to the governor should do so, because this isn't about politics. One would expect the opposition in Kano
to be very fierce & outspoken, especially at a time like this. One would expect the business men, religious scholars & everyone to come out & condemn this recklessness & to ask the leaders questions. But everyone seems not to be doing what they should do. We should hold these
people responsible should anything happen to our people. We should blame the authorities & stakeholders, from the @NigeriaGov, @MBuhari @ProfOsinbajo to the state government @GovUmarGanduje @KNSMOH & all the leaders that can make a difference but chose to keep quiet.
I also want to call on the religious organizations, Tijjaniyya, Qadiriyyah, Izala, JNI & any organization to use any available resources they have to help in this fight. This is the time that your people need your support more than ever. We know you all have money. Use them now.
Lest I forget, yes I am from Kano bcos my mum is from Kano & my wife also is from Kano. Even if they're not, Kano is still home.
