The African American intellectual tradition has some of my fave thinkers. Angela Davis, WEB Du Bois, Alain Locke, and Ida B Wells are people who have really helped me understand the world and my place in it. I even think there's something unified in what I gain from these four...
... it's something like: there is a way in which a clear eyed understanding of one's scenario puts one in a position to gain freedom, or laying out the link between organised knowledge and genuine liberation, which itself makes possible a kind of refined mundane happiness...
... but all of this is obviously inadequate, too vague and (relatedly) too generic. Always the line from the poet comes to my mind

In all of this, there is clear meaning.
