THREAD:

For the 1st time, @Thyrocare did publish an official breakdown of how they inflated costing so much so that the cost/test of COVID-19 came to ₹5000/test

And in this thread I will debunk most of their fabricated lies

https://twitter.com/Thyrocare/status/1253958326901108736
Collection material cost = ₹261.75?

Incase of RT-PCR (sample from throat/nose)

* swab (its almost like an ear bud for collecting the sample) for collecting the stuff from deep from nose (~₹2-5 max/piece)
* plastic bottle to store bud (~₹10-20 max)
On bulk, I'm reasonably confident that the cost of swab = ₹2/swab. Plastic bottle = ₹5

Source for items required for RT-PCR: https://wvuh.testcatalog.org/show/BORPCR-1
Incase of Anti-body (blood test)

* syringe (~₹10/synringe)
* plastic bottle to store bud (~₹10-20 max)

On bulk, I'm reasonably confident that the cost of Plastic bottle = ₹5 & synringe = ₹3-4

Then why the cost is inflated to ₹261.75?
PPE cost/patient = ₹606.60?

Are we expecting each person who is testing the sample/collecting samples to wear a new PPE per sample tested? Seriously?

1/2 PPE kit/day/person is not good enough for testing all samples?
And why is this cost instead of spreading across all tests conducted per day is inflated to per patient?
Cost/test = ₹725?
(This I am assuming to be the cost of actual kit purchased from manufacturers)

Even at inflated rates for these test kits(i.e ₹4500/kit), we don't test a single personm, but in batches 10, in some kits, its even as high as 27. If so, why is this ₹725?
Quality cost = ₹106?

What quality cost/test? Quality checks are done random basis & that comes to 10% of kit cost?
Channel margin = ₹562.5?

So, we are expecting you & all intermediaries to make a profit of almost equivalent to cost/test of ₹725?

Are we dealing with a pandemic/scam? People are not making any money due to lock & slowdown in economy & you make 75% markup over cost/test?
No advertising is required to get business during a pandemic, so not sure whats the basis for this?
Contingency 5% = ₹250?
Bad depts = 1% = ₹50?

When everything else is inflated, these % also will go up drastically

What kind of contingency are we talking specifically for these tests? There is guaranteed need because of the pandemic.
Also, bad debts like what? when you collecting money from patient directly?

The tragic part is this. The workers who are taking most risk, the Lab assistant makes just ₹15k/month
Because of rampant inflation of every other aspect, the overall salaries of employees receive just 3.7% goes to those who took the highest risk of exposure to the virus

scientific officer ₹12.63
+
lab assistant ₹6.25
+
Micro biologist ₹27.78
+
Managerial ₹13.89
=
₹60.55
Cost of analysis = ₹1602

i.e overall money going to people who do the work = their share/overall price = (₹60.55/₹1602) = 3.7%

If we look at overall costing (incl door collection), we are talking about 3.2%
i.e salaries + conveyance + hardship allowance / total cost = (60.55+100+20)/5000 = 3.2%

Finally, few nitpicks

Waste disposal cost = ₹17?

Waste disposable/kit is 17 rupees/person? Seriously?

Are we disposing them off each one individually/doing it in a collective basis?
Man power cost to collect a sample = 750?

750 to collect from home/patient? Here we are talking about collecting a swab from throat, what expertise are we talking about here? Since there is a conveyance of ₹100, this ₹750 goes directly into your pocket
When everything is inflated & the costs are mere numbers on excel sheet to be fiddled, the costs can be inflated to any degree

I can make the same thing cost 10k/test, whats the big deal when all I need to do is inflate costing like crazy with the excel gimmickry
