Let me tell you how difficult it is to make magazine covers

This was 10 years ago, HM-Mitsubishi had promised us an exclusive on the #EvoX and off we went to Coimbatore to whip it at the #KariSpeedway. Except...

The Mitsu guys had done a customer showcase at #MMRT & a muppet went off track and ripped the underbody. Which we weren’t told about! So here we are in CBE, HM put us up at the #Taj - photo crew, film crew, even a producer since this was gonna be a big story for OD on CNBC

Every morning, afternoon, evening we’d ask when the damn car will come. And we’d be told anytime now. It went on, would you believe, for FIVE days. @sandeepsrikanth borrowed a #Pajero and took off for Ooty. I got Red Rooster to send down my rally Cedia & did some testing

And of course no sign of the damn Evo. @ShereenBhan couldn’t believe I was idling a cameraperson & producer for so long! On the sixth eve the car arrived. seven days later we finally drove and filmed the X. Our hotel bills must have accelerated the bankruptcy of the company!

Of course the Evo X was fucking brilliant. Hour after hr I hammered it round the track. Went to the pump thrice to tank it up. It rained. Discovered how awesome Mitsubishi AWD is to slide. Discovered how shit the twin-clutch automatic was (multiple breaks to let it cool).

Rally champ Naren Kumar came to drive it & weeks later bought one. I fell in love with the car... and 3 years later started @evoIndia magazine. And immediately we bought the #EvoX from Naren.

Making #magazines is not easy. Can you imagine the amount of screaming and yelling that must have gone on in the lobby of the Taj asking for the car? The plans messed up. Remotely getting the other pages ready so the issue wouldn’t be (heavily) delayed

Or even to explain to management why this car should be on the cover and not a sick diesel hatch. But at the end of the day seeing your work in print, getting reader comments, nothing matches the joy.

I hope we bring an equal amount of joy to you, dear reader
