Re football return.. heard about something else that is being discussed today. That is around fixture scheduling. There are discussions to restructure the schedule in order to enable geographically limiting fixtures to happen first, so that netural grounds could be effective..
.. for example games like Villa vs Wolves, LFC vs Everton, LFC vs City..etc for the North and Arsenal vs Watford, Spurs vs Palace..etc for the South could happen first. Across 2/3 netural grounds. That would be the first “phase”. Then a second phase for the remaining games.
This would allow for the impact on medical services to be limited, demand for tests to be spread out, players to get a short break in between, grounds to be managed and cleansed to prevent spread, and could mean 3ish matchweeks worth of football being completed in a week
That would be by running parralel games, e.g 3/4 games a day at the same time across 3 locations (North, Mid, South). Which would mean one matchweek being completed every 2 days of running games. This would mean completing 3 match weeks in 1 and a half weeks.
Then a short pause before doing something similar for the geographically challenging games. Which would involve stronger planning and “quarantine camps”. However for a shorter period of time.
